Schokoaufstrich | chocolate spread

Mittwoch, der 15. Juni 2016

Nehmt:

125g Nussmus Backen (also ein halbes Glas).

Chocolate spread

I have to admit: I never was a Nutella-girl… I have always preferred nuttier versions, like the German Nusspli.

So it comes as no surprise that my version of this breakfast classic consitst to 90% of nuts! The second confession in one post: I prefer a store-bought nut butter for this recipe! More precisely, a mix of different nut butters. If you live in Germany you will know the brand Rapunzel. They make the most amazing nut butter mix, called „Nussmus backen“. It’s the perfect combination of almond and hazelnut, with a dash of poppy seed and vanilla. Delicious!

But I’m sure there are equivalents to this elsewehere, if not as a mix, then get two single butters. You can obviously also make the nut butter yourself.

If you want to make it from scratch – good on you! – place the nuts in your food processor, mix until oil is produced and everything is very smooth. There will be lots of stopping and scraping off the sides. But it’s worth the efort – as it’s cheaper and this way you can use activated nuts.

But as I have mentioned in a different post, I don’t mind the occasional „processed“ food, as it helps me save time and home-making capacities where needed more urgently. Industrial nut butter would be one of those, as long as it’s organic and 100% nuts…

So here we go. If I ever had enough of this chocolate spread, I would take a bath in it! Seriously!

Take:

125g Nussmus Backen (half a glass )

Alternative: make or buy a nut butter mix, consisting of hazelnuts and almonds, season with a dash of vanilla

4 big tsp. raw cacao
3 small tsp. coconut nectar

Add everything to a small blender, like a NutriBullet. Blend. All done! It will keep just as long as normal nut butter: forever. Well, that is if you manage to actually put it into your fridge and not eat all of it straight from your blender …
